Located on Grant’s Hill one would find a Neo-Dutch style mansion that once served as residence for the Governor General of the Union of South Africa as early as the 1940’s. A mansion known for boarding King George VI and his family before it became the official residence for the State Presidents of South Africa.
This mansion is better known as Oliewenhuis, which derived its name from the abundance of wild olive trees growing on the surrounding hills.
